CARDS ON THE TABLE
“Cards on the Table” is an international educational project that brings climate activism to life using virtual reality. It focuses on the climate activist efforts of young people in Honduras as well as the diverse realities and perspectives of life in this country, which has been severely affected by the climate crisis. The aim of the project is to raise young people's awareness of climate justice and global connections and to promote their environmentally conscious personal development. Both the concept and the script were developed and implemented in close cooperation with the local climate protection organization. The immersive method makes it possible to directly experience the impressive nature and the young people's passion for its protection. Immerse yourself in these worlds and discover new perspectives.
Cards on the Table is divided into two main touchpoints. The VR experience and an analog card set for use in the classroom.  The VR films deal with topics such as mangrove reforestation, fair trade coffee and the impact of plastic pollution on fisheries. They show the perspectives of those affected and encourage reflection on climate justice. The card set is used for subsequent discussion of the newly gained impressions by means of open questions in order to promote the transfer of the learning content.
A special cooperation came about through the youth network Red de Jovenes en accion por el clima in Honduras. The VR Experience was designed with young climate activists from Central America. A highlight of the project was our stay in Honduras. Eight days of filming, during which we directed, planned and organized the shoot. We ran VR workshops, promoting technical education and empowerment.
